CYPRUS AMBASSADOR VISITS NOVI SAD

Novi Sad Mayor Milan Đurić and the Ambassador of Cyprus to Serbia H.E. Andreas Photiou met today in the City Hall.

Upon extending a warm welcome to the Ambassador, Mayor Đurić noted that the strong bilateral links between Serbia and Cyprus provide an ideal environment for the development of collaboration between the cities of both nations. He emphasized that Cypriot companies and entrepreneurs are welcome to grow their business in the city, noting that Novi Sad has seen intense development in all industries over the past ten years, which has led to the entry of international investors and the creation of new employment.

Ambassador Photiou stated that the Cyprus Embassy offers opportunities for collaboration and that one of the most significant relationships between the two nations is the sphere of education, or exchanges at the university and school levels.

The Mayor highlighted the importance of cultural exchange in forging stronger ties between the two countries. He suggested to the Ambassador that artists from Cyprus participate in the "Novi Sad Film Festival," which takes place in September of this year for the second time, and that entrepreneurs could participate in the International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad, which takes place every May, as a means of fostering economic cooperation.

In the spirit of friendship, the Mayor and the Ambassador decided to explore strengthening the bonds between the City of Novi Sad and the local self-governments of Cyprus, with the aim of formalizing this cooperation in the future.
