Miloš Vučević
Mayor of Novi Sad

Mr. Vučević was born on December 10th 1974 in Novi Sad. He attended Vasa Stajić Primary School in his hometown, and Jan Kolar Grammar School in Bački Petrovac. He graduated from the Novi Sad Faculty of Law in 1999.  Until 2012, he practiced law at the family-owned law office.

In 2008, he joins the Serbian Progressive Party. In 2011, he was elected President of the Serbian Progressive Party’s City Board in Novi Sad. He was elected Mayor of the City of Novi Sad in September 2012, following which he no longer worked as a lawyer.

He was a member of the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED) Steering Board from 2015 to 2016. Following the local elections in 2016, Mr. Vučević was elected Mayor of Novi Sad for his second consecutive term.The same year he became a Vice-president of the Serbian Progressive Party.

He received several awards, among which is the Charter of Honorary Senator of the Serbian Senate for Economy, in 2014. The same year he receives the Kapetan Miša Anastasijević Prize, awarded to him as a leader of local administration and for his promotion of European values of life in Novi Sad. Two years later, in 2016, these values were confirmed by Novi Sad’s designation for the 2019 European Youth Capital and 2021 European Culture Capital. Mr. Vučević also received the White Dove Recognition, awarded to him by the Tesla Global Forum Program Framework. He is a recipient of the Order of the Holy Bishop Maxim of the Diocese of Syrmia, and of the Charter of Acknowledgement and Gratitude of the Diocese of Bačka, for his exceptional contribution of spiritual and ecclesial life.

Day of the City of Novi Sad is celebrated on February 01st. On the occasion of the City’s 270th anniversary, in 2018, Mr. Vučević stated the following of the City’s historic continuity:

“We can be proud of the 270 years of struggle for Novi Sad, the 270 years of ups and downs which Novi Sad has lived through like numerous other cities, but the fact that probably distinguishes Novi Sad is that it has achieved to fuse things not easily manageable at first glance. It has always been recognized for its prefix multi-, as in multiethnic, multiconfessional, and multicultural.”

He is married, has two children Mihailo and Danilo.
