NOVI SAD CELEBRATES WORLD CARFREE DAY

The Mayor of Novi Sad Mr Igor Pavličić led a great bicycle parade through the city. The parade was organized by the City of Novi Sad, City Administration for Youth and Sport and Novi Sad Bicycle Club. The event was held to mark the World Carfree Day.

- Such massive support and huge participation in activities such as this one is a sure indicator that Novi Sad is slowly but certainly becoming the city of cyclists. I am personally very glad that Novi Sad is the first city in Serbia to introduce a bike rental service, and also to see that it has become very popular. While building new boulevards, we pay a lot of attention to constructing new bike paths, or reconstructing the already existing ones. Our common goal is to live in a healthy environment. This is why I would personally very much like to see our city overcrowded with bicycles, which would definitely ensure much healthier and less polluted air. I very much thank to all of you who helped the campaign, and I truly hope next year our parade will be even bigger. – said Mr Pavličić

Many people took part in the ride through the city, thus contributing to the promotion of a healthier lifestyle. The parade ended at Štrand, where the cyclists were greeted by musicians and offered refreshment. Those who had no bicycles on their own, were able to use the city rent-a-bike service for free.
