After attending "3rd CISM World Military Basketball Championship 3x3" opening ceremony at SPENS, Novi Sad's Mayor, Milan Đurić, hosted delegates' heads and representatives from the International Council for Military Sports at the City Hall. Military members from 20 member states of the International Council for Military Sports (CISM) from four continents will compete in that competition, which will take place in Novi Sad from June 17 to June 21, 2024.

- Novi Sad has a first-rate sports infrastructure, making it the perfect location for a wide range of regional and international events and tournaments. Since our fellow residents make the best hosts, everyone can also enjoy a pleasant atmosphere and hospitality. Regarding the sport which is in focal point today, we held a two-day Ultra Challenger competition last year, in which a number of international 3x3 basketball teams competed. Prior to that, in 2019, we held the first Challenger 3x3 tournament under the FIBA's sponsorship. We may take pride in the fact that Stojačić brothers, the greatest basketball players in the world, are Novi Sad residents. Because of this, we consider it an honour that our city is hosting this week's World Military Championship in 3x3 basketball - said Mayor Đurić, wishing everyone good luck.

The competition was opened by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić, who emphasised the importance of chivalry and camaraderie in military sports. The minister greeted the international participants and wished them only positive memories of Serbia. Marko Kešelj, State Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, and Colonel Negovan Ivanković, President of the Organising Committee and Head of the Serbian Delegation to the CISM, welcomed the competition participants and wished them success.

The matches will be played at SPENS' Small Hall today and tomorrow, and they will be free to all spectators. The closing ceremony, which will declare the winner of the 3rd CISM World Military Championship in 3x3 basketball, will take place on June 20 at 3:00 p.m.
