WREATHS LAID AT THE MONUMENT IN COMMEMORATION OF NOVI SAD’S LIBERATION DAY

On the occasion of October 23rd , the Day of Liberation of Novi Sad, the Mayor of Novi Sad Žarko Mićin and the President of the Novi Sad City Assembly Dina Vučinić laid wreaths at the Memorial Cemetery of the fighters of the People's Liberation Wars from 1941-1945.
- On this day, October 23rd, we remember one of the most important dates in the history of our city, the day, 81 years ago, when Novi Sad was liberated from fascist occupation during World War II. That historic moment was not only a victory of arms but a victory of spirit, courage, and the desire for freedom. The liberators of Novi Sad laid down their lives as the foundation of our freedom today. It is our duty to preserve this legacy, not only by laying wreaths and expressing words of gratitude but also through responsible actions, by building a city where freedom, equality, and the dignity of every individual are inviolable values. I congratulate all citizens of Novi Sad on the Day of Liberation of our city, hoping that our shared history will always remind us how precious freedom is and how important it is never to take it for granted. Eternal glory and gratitude to the liberators of Novi Sad - said Mayor Mićin.
The Day of Liberation of Novi Sad in World War II is commemorated every year on October 23rd, marking the day in 1944 when fighters of the Novi Sad Partisan Detachment liberated the city, and the last fascist occupation troops withdrew. In addition to the Mayor of Novi Sad and the President of the City Assembly, wreaths were also laid by representatives of the Serbian Army, the South Bačka Administrative District, members of the City Committee of the Association of Fighters of the People's Liberation War, and a delegation of Reserve Military Officers.
