WOMEN’S TENNIS REPRESENTATIVES RECEIVED AT THE CITY HALL

Mayor of Novi Sad Mr. Miloš Vučević and Member of the City Council in charge for Sports and Youth Mr. Predrag Svilar received today Serbian FED Cup Team Selector Ms. Tatjana Ječmenica Jeftić. The London Draw decided that our national selection, in the forthcoming FED Cup B Group matches, will be playing at home against Paraguay. The matches are set for April 18th and 19th.

- It is a great honor to have an expert from your hometown to lead the national team, the team which achieves notable results. Due to our young women’s players’ numerous successes, we return to the highest-ranking women’s tennis competitions, and the City of Novi Sad is exceptionally proud to see that one such team representing Serbia is led by Ms. Tatjana Ječmenica Jeftić. The team will always have the City’s support, and we extend them our warmest wishes for achieving victories in all the forthcoming matches. – said Mayor Vučević.

Mr. Svilar said that on today’s meeting, there will be discussions with Ms. Ječmenica Jeftić and representatives of the Tennis Federation of Serbia concerning whether Novi Sad is technically capable of hosting FED Cup matches. Ms. Ječmenica Jeftić extended her gratitude to the City officials, even more so for the fact that the City has recognized the results and achievements of this young generation of players.

- Our young players have showed that there is future in women’s tennis. Their successes orientate our goals and thoughts towards winning the FED Cup. We are the favorites for the announced April game with Paraguay, but anything is possible in sport. It is our job to concentrate to our full, both during preparations and during the match itself. – said Ms. Ječmenica Jeftić and emphasized that she wishes that Novi Sad would host the match, but that it is up to the Tennis Federation of Serbia.
