UNDERGROUND GARAGE OPENED IN MODENA STREET

The Mayor of Novi Sad, Žarko Mićin, and the Director of “Best in Parking – Holding AG,” Johann Breiteneder, together with the Director of the company “Inobačka,” Vukajlo Babić, attended the opening of the underground garage in Modena Street. In the newly constructed “Modena” garage, covering an area of over 9,500 m², 267 parking spaces are now available to citizens across three underground levels. Of the total number of parking spaces, 14 are designated for people with disabilities and eight for electric vehicles.
- The City of Novi Sad is committed to improving the quality of life for its citizens, who have highlighted the lack of parking spaces as one of the most pressing issues in many surveys and letters. Following the construction of the garage near Banovina, we are continuing to respond to citizens' needs regarding parking in the city center. The underground garage in Modena Street, with 267 parking spaces, whose opening we are attending today, will significantly ease parking and reduce traffic congestion. What is especially important is that, after the garage opens, 100 parking spaces will be reserved for residents of the city center and people with disabilities, which will be excluded from the general parking system. The garage was built according to international standards and represents a very demanding and complex construction project. I would like to thank the concessionaire and the contractors for a job well done, and I thank the people of Novi Sad for their patience and understanding - said the Mayor, emphasizing that the arrangement of the space above the garage is now underway and will be completed by the summer of next year.
-The City of Novi Sad has prepared the project and secured funding for the landscaping above the garage, which covers about 11,200 m². We will develop this new pedestrian zone with a significant amount of greenery, including 35 trees, several hundred ornamental shrubs, and a lawn covering 400 m². In addition, 120 meters of bicycle paths will be constructed. As part of the landscaping, a new hackberry tree will be planted, a descendant of the old hackberry tree that was lost during the storm of 2023 - stated Mayor Mićin.
Citizens will pay 80 dinars per hour for parking, which is the same rate as parking in the extra zone on street-level parking spaces.
