Third Steering Committee Meeting for the MISSION project held in Sarajevo

On 30–31 March 2026, partners of the Multi-modal Inclusive Smart urban mobility SolutIONs (MISSION) project gathered in Sarajevo for the 3rd Steering Committee Meeting to align strategies and reinforce collaboration across the Adriatic-Ionian region.

Hosted at Europe House in Sarajevo, the two-day meeting brought together project partners both in person and online, reaffirming the consortium’s shared commitment to shaping smarter, more inclusive urban mobility systems.

Focus on data, models, and Stakeholder Engagement

The first day was dedicated to explore mobility needs and policy frameworks. Significant progress was reported in data collection activities, with the near-finalization of three core databases that will underpin the project’s analytical work. Remaining challenges were openly discussed, demonstrating the partnership’s collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Advancements in modelling activities were also highlighted, with ongoing development of statistical and mathematical models designed to support evidence-based decision-making in urban mobility planning.

A particularly engaging session centered on stakeholder engagement. Partners shared updates from local focus groups and discussed the preparation of final reports at project partner level. This exchange provided valuable insights into local mobility challenges and ensured that diverse perspectives are embedded in the project’s outcomes.

The day concluded with a presentation of the stakeholder questionnaire aimed at supporting the development of policy recommendations, further strengthening the link between data, engagement, and policy design.

Moving forward with Pilot Actions

The second day shifted focus on reviewed progress in integrating data, models, and algorithms from multiple sources—an essential step toward delivering innovative mobility solutions.

Encouraging developments were also presented regarding the MISSION SmartApp, with a mock-up already showcasing its potential to provide user-friendly, integrated mobility services.

In parallel, communication and dissemination efforts continue to gain momentum. The mid-term high-level dissemination event marked an important opportunity to increase the project’s visibility and engage with key stakeholders beyond the partnership.

Sarajevo: Culture and Connection

Alongside the formal agenda, partners had the opportunity to experience Sarajevo through a guided city tour. Accompanied by a local guide, participants explored the city’s rich history, gaining insights into the key historical events and cultural influences that have shaped its unique urban identity. This immersive experience provided valuable context to the discussions on urban development and mobility.

The day concluded with a social dinner, offering a relaxed setting for partners to strengthen relationships, exchange ideas informally, and celebrate the progress achieved together.

Looking Ahead

The 3rd Steering Committee Meeting marked an important step forward for MISSION. With solid progress achieved across technical, strategic, and communication activities, the project is well-positioned to move into its next phase—transforming knowledge and collaboration into concrete, innovative mobility solutions for cities across the ADRION region.
