''SMART CITIES'' PROGRAM PRESENTED IN NOVI SAD

The Local Economic Development Office of Novi Sad organized a presentation of the “Smart Cities” program entitled "Novi Sad, a smart city – activities and opportunities" for the representatives of SMEs from the territory of Novi Sad, primarily IT companies, telecom operators, Internet providers, innovation centers, programming companies and other ICT stakeholders.

Prof. Marijana Dukić Mijatović, PhD, Manager of the Local Economic Development Office addressed the attendees on behalf of the City of Novi Sad:

"In the past couple of days we strived to attract as many companies as possible to come to the presentation and thus prepare themselves better for applying for the available financial support. Our partners, engineers from the Public Utility Company ‘Informatics’ and ‘DunavNet’ will explain everything in detail. Since 2008 until today, through the Local Economic Development Office, we have attracted around 5.000.000 euros through projects from different donors. Today, the attention is paid to the “Smart Cities” projects because we want Novi Sad to follow the technological development trends thus enabling all services that exist in the European Union to its citizens - Prof. Marijana Dukić Mijatović, PhD, said.

Representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises who attended the presentation were able to get information on current international R & D projects (FP7 and CIP-PSP) aimed at the development of smart services in Novi Sad, as well as FI-PPP, FrontierCities, Finodex and Fabulous accelerators programs that offer support (logistical and financial) to small and medium-sized enterprises to create applications upon the FI-WARE platform. Likewise, they could find out how to apply for financial aid, up to 150.000 euros per project with the total budget of eighty million euros.
