“SAINT SAVA AND OUR ERA” EXHIBITION OPENS IN NOVI SAD

Member of the City Council in charge for Culture Mr. Vanja Vučenović officially opened the exhibition of works from 23rd “Saint Sava and Our Time” competition. The topic was “The Great War 100th Anniversary”, and the organization has been entrusted to Circle of Serbian Sisters of Bačka Serbian Orthodox Diocese, to the Board of Religious Education of Bačka Serbian Orthodox Diocese, to the Center of Visual Arts Education for Children and Youth of Vojvodina, as well as to the Association of Teachers of Vojvodina.

- City of Novi Sad has traditionally supported this competition, since we believe it encourages creativity of our students. I am very glad that numerous schools in Serbia participated in the competition, even more so that among the winners we have children from Republika Srpska and Gračanica. – stated Mr. Vučenović and added that the City will continue to support the competition, which significantly contributes raising the national identity awareness of our young ones.

The competition was announced for the first time in 1992, and is intended towards primary and secondary students from Serbia and Republika Srpska. Since 2012, it has been opened for all the schools across the Serbian diaspora. The competition, which is enlisted with the Serbian Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development’s Calendar and which is supported by the City Administration for Culture, has seen 3866 student participants from 325 schools from Republic of Serbia, Republika Srpska, Switzerland and Germany.

During the official award ceremony, prizes were awarded to 9 most successful literature and poetry competitors, while one of the competitors was awarded the special “Neven” Magazine Prize. The Jury awarded 15 prizes to most successful drawings and to 15 most successful calligraphic works.
