RUSSIAN FOLKLORE TROUPE “WREATH” IN NOVI SAD

With its performance of traditional Russian songs and dances, the Kostrom Folklore Troupe “Wreath” held a concert at the Theater Hall of the Cultural-Informational Center “Mladost”. The concert “On the Roads of Good” was attended by the Member of the City Council in charge for Culture Mr. Vanja Vučenović, who wished the guests a warm welcome and expressed his pleasure for the opportunity to host them in Futog.
- Learning about artistic creativity, as well as about art from various countries of the world is of the utmost importance, and I am therefore extremely glad that residents of Futog have an opportunity to enjoy Russian dance and songs, performed by this well-known and highly regarded troupe from Kostrom. Music is an art form understood by everyone, regardless of their native tongue, and tonight’s concert is one more proof of friendship between our two nations. – stated Mr. Vučenović.
“Wreath” was founded in 1994, with the aim to preserve folklore tradition, tradition of the Kostrom region, and to promote Russian traditional and national creativity. The troupe’s repertoire, led by the artistic director Associate Professor Aleksandar Alekseevich Druzhinin, comprises of more than 250 folk songs, dances and instrumental compositions of the Kostrom Region, as well as from various other regions of Russia. The troupe has so far been awarded by numerous honors and recognitions for their endeavor, most significant being the Russian Federation Award for Development of Tradition, Culture and Customs of Russian Peoples. They perform both at home and abroad, and since 2009 the troupe has cherished friendship and cooperation with Serbia, having been organizing concerts for Serbs in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other republics of former Yugoslavia.
