NOVI SAD MAYOR MEETS GERMAN AMBASSADOR

Novi Sad Mayor Mr. Miloš Vučević received at the City Hall today the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Serbia, H.E. Axel Dittmann. On this occasion, the Mayor thanked His Excellency for the visit and wished him a warm welcome.

During the meeting with the Ambassador, the Mayor stressed that the City of Dortmund is one of twin cities with whom the City of Novi Sad has been nurturing the most intensive cooperation dominated by the exchanges in the fields of culture, sports and education, as well as the cooperation between our universities. Likewise, the interlocutors emphasized the importance of the existing cooperation with the City of Ulm via Danube Strategy.

They also agreed that it is necessary to continuously nurture the cooperation at the highest level, as well as to strive to promote its expansion in the fields of economy and tourism. The Mayor Vučević estimated that support that the City of Novi Sad has been receiving from the City of Dortmund on the road to its candidacy for the prestigious title of the European Capital of Culture 2021 as well as the Youth Capital of Europe in 2019 is invaluable, pointing out the guidance and advice in the process itself.

Ambassador Axel Dittmann, marking his first official visit to Novi Sad, thanked for the hospitality and expressed willingness to provide maximum support in the frame of fostering the existing relations between the City of Novi Sad and Germany, as well as establishing new partnerships and forms of cooperation. His Excellency is staying today in our City on the occasion of "Belgrade Forum of Civil Society - series of meetings of the Western Balkans” which is being held from 11th to 13th May in Novi Sad and Belgrade.
