Head of the Mayor’s Office Aleksandar Petrović opened one of eight European semi-final competitions in solving case studies of corporate strategic management and engineering (Tournament in Management and Engineering Skills – TIMES), which is held at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad. The event represents a part of the European Students of Industrial Engineering and Management – ESTIEM Project. The competitions take place in several cycles across Europe and they bring together around 250 top teams fighting for the Industrial Engineering and Management Students of the Year title. (IEM Students of the Year).
-We are proud that organization of this semi-final included Novi Sad in the company of cities like St. Petersburg, Istanbul, Ankara, Madrid, Kiev and several others. The University with over 45,000 students from Novi Sad, Vojvodina, Serbia and neighboring countries, makes Novi Sad widely recognizable outside its geographical context, which represents great potential of our City. One of the faculties with whom the City has excellent cooperation is the Faculty of Technical Sciences which hosted this competition. I hope it will result in improved solutions that will contribute to business success of companies – Aleksandar Petrović said.
The attendees at the opening ceremony at the City Hall were addressed by the Faculty of Technical Sciences representative, Prof. Bojan Lalić, PhD, as well as Igor Kostadinović, on behalf of ESTEIM LG NS, followed by Mina Čičulić and Nikolina Radojčić as Project leaders.
They explained that the competition’s concept is such that it develops engineering and managerial skills in students so that the teams solve real business problems of manufacturing and service companies, from small and medium-sized enterprises to multinational corporations. TIMES was first held in 1994 and each edition of the competition is supported by entrepreneurs who are very keen to implement the student solution proposals.
