NOVI SAD GETS MORE PROSPEROUS WITH UNDERGROUND GARAGES AND A NEW HEATING PLANT

The "Banovina" garage, which is being built next to the AP Vojvodina Assembly building, was toured by the Mayor of Novi Sad Milan Đurić together with the president of the Provincial Government, Maja Gojković, and the President of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Miloš Vučević.

It is a project that envisages the construction of a garage with an area of 6,280 square meters for 167 parking spaces, on two underground levels — there will be 79 parking spaces on the first underground level, while there will be 88 on the second level. It is one of four sites in Novi Sad where public garages will be constructed. The other two sites are on Trg Republike and Šafarikova Street. There is another one now under development on Modene Street. The concessionaire has stated that the "Banovina" garage will be operational by the end of July, and that the City of Novi Sad will begin landscaping the above-ground area and decorating the ground level.

After visiting the underground garage, together with the Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović, General Director of PC "Srbijagas" Dušan Bajatović and Director of PUC "Novi Sad District Heating" Nenad Barac, they toured the works on the construction of the new Heating Plant "Majevica", where the project of expanding the gas network was presented .

It is the first Heating Plant to be built in Novi Sad after four decades. The building of the new Heating Plant "Majevica" began to be built at the end of February of the current year, construction works are underway, and the entire project will be completed by May 2025.

Its construction is a condition for the connection of newly planned buildings along Europe Boulevard, north of Vojvoda Stepa Boulevard, as well as nearby, already existing buildings, which are currently heated by the "Zapad" heating system. In accordance with the City Development Plan and the District Heating System Development Strategy until 2030, the Heating Plant "Majevica" will heat 7,000 apartments in the first phase, and around 20,000 in the final phase.
