NOVI SAD DELEGATION VISITS VUKOVAR-SRIJEM COUNTY AND OSJEČKO POLJE AND BARANJA EPARCHY

Mayor of Novi Sad Mr. Miloš Vučević and his associates, accompanied by the representatives of Zrenjanin, Stara Pazova, Apatin and Irig, visited today the Serbian Orthodox Church Osječko Polje and Baranja Eparchy, in the Republic of Croatia.

During the visit, they met with His Grace Bishop Lukijan of Оsјеčkо Pоlje and Bаrаnja, as well as with representatives of various Serbian associations and the Serbian-community delegated MP.

- We are here to discuss strengthening of our cooperation, as well as more concrete assistance by the cities and municipalities from Vojvodina to our compatriots in East Slavonia and Baranja, but also to Serbian Orthodox Church and its efforts in these parts of Croatia. – said Mayor Vučević.

Following their visit to Osječko Polje and Baranja Eparchy, the delegation from Novi Sad and cities and municipalities from Vojvodina met in Vukovar with the officials of Vukovar-Srijem County, who informed them on the status of Serbian ethnic community in the County. During the meeting, there were also discussions regarding economic cooperation, participation within the EU Danube Strategy Project, as well as continuation of cultural cooperation.
