NOVI SAD DELEGATION VISITS GOMEL ON THE OCCASION OF CITY DAY

Gomel, the Twin City of Novi Sad, is celebrating City Day, and the official programs and ceremony on the occasion of the 882nd anniversary of the founding of this Belarusian City are attended by Deputy Mayor Đurađ Jakšić and Assistant Mayor Ivan Siler.

As part of the visit and commemoration of Gomel Day, they attended the official reception of foreign delegations, and also met with the President of the Executive Committee of the City of Gomel, Vladimir Privalov, as well as other representatives of the City of Gomel, where on behalf of the Mayor of Novi Sad, Milan Đurić, and all the citizens of Novi Sad congratulated the City Day and presented a suitable gift.

- Novi Sad takes pride in all the relationships it has cultivated and established with as many as 27 cities. In that family of cities, relations with Gomel are particularly deep and strong. This friendship is best defined by the relationship of allies in all times, including the most difficult periods. There are a lot of commonalities between us, things we can discuss, experiences we can share, and concepts we can trade. Because of this, I think that the friendship between our peoples and our cities will only get stronger in the years to come - said Deputy Mayor Jakšić.

After the reception, the Novi Sad delegation attended the opening of the Gomel Day ceremony, organized on Lenin Square, with a ceremonial procession of participants of the 11th International Festival of Choreographic Art "Sozhsky Karagod".

As part of the City Day, festive programs of creative collectives of cultural institutions, education, companies and organizations of the City of Gomel were organized, the award "Man of the Year" was awarded, and concerts of Belarusian and Russian artists were also held.

The Novi Sad delegates concluded their visit to Belarus with a meeting with Ilina Vukajlović, the Republic of Serbia's Ambassador in Minsk. During a friendly discussion, the participants acknowledged that although Serbia and Belarus are cooperating at a high level, there is still potential for development, particularly in the area of intercity cooperation and interchange.

The 2013 Charter on the Twinning of Novi Sad and Gomel outlines the parameters of collaboration in the following areas: social policy, education, health, commerce, tourism, culture, and communal activities and other.
