NOVI SAD – CITY OF VOLLEYBALL

Mayor of Novi Sad Mr. Miloš Vučević and Member of the City Council in charge for Sports and Youth Mr. Predrag Svilar received today at the Novi Sad City Hall the Vojvodina Volleyball Club players and its officials. Vojvodina Volleyball Club, having beaten Partisan last weekend, have won Serbian Cup Finals for the 14th time.   

- In the name of the City of Novi Sad, as well as in my own name, I most wholeheartedly congratulate the Vojvodina Volleyball Club for their most recent exceptional success. Above all, I congratulate the players, the whole staff, as well as the fans who supported them throughout the competition. I am very pleased that Novi Sad hosted the National Cup Finals, and that after three years Vojvodina won the National Cup, having beaten their eternal rivals Red Star and Partizan. – stated Mayor Vučević – I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my gratitude to the team, as well as to encourage them to continue to compete and fight, so they win the next year’s finals as well, confirming thereby our city’s title as the City of Volleyball.  I am fully convinced that people in Novi Sad will enjoy the forthcoming matches of our young players whose qualities and abilities are even more utilized when led by the highly experienced professional staff.

On behalf of the Club, Vice-president of the Executive Board Mr. Vladimir Šiška stated that, although the team and the staff have undisputed quality, their success would prove impossible without the understanding coming from the City, which supported them throughout the season. He further added that future prospects of appreciating volleyball in Novi Sad are only emphasized by the fact that Vojvodina is also the national champion both in cadet and in junior rankings.
   
Vojvodina Coach Mr. Strahinja Kozić extended his gratitude to the City, for the support, as well as for the organization of the tournament.

- In these difficult times, the support coming from the City meant a great deal to us, and we are very glad that we managed to justify this support and confidence invested in us by winning the Cup. I firmly believe that in the period to come, in various European competitions, we will promote our City as best as we possibly can. – said Mr. Kozić.
