NEW KINDERGARTENS READY TO OPEN
New kindergartens of the “Radosno Detinjstvo” Preschool Institution, in Radnička Street, in Petrovaradin and Veternik, are ready to open and are to start functioning within the month. The facilities are entirely completed and equipped, usage permits have been issued, and landscaping is in its final stages at all locations. At this moment, children are enrolled and this process will be over within the week. According to the Member of the City Council in charge for Education Mr. Vladimir Jelić, the City has met all the prerequisites for opening the three new kindergartens and enrolling of additional 900 children.
- We still have not been granted the license from the State Commission for Public Sector Employment to hire the necessary number of teachers. Nevertheless, since acquiring this license can take up to several months, the City will not allow that our young ones wait for their enrollment and we will find a temporary solution in order to employ the necessary number of teachers. In doing so, we will break neither any law, nor the public sector employment ban. These days we have been witnessing an ongoing discussion in the media questioning the reason for employing new staff, while due to the recent rationalization process in “Radosno Detinjstvo” 30 of them had been made redundant. The employees who left the Preschool Institution were exclusively from the administration, marketing and quality control departments, and their leaving has had no impact on the Institution’s core activity functioning. – underlined Mr. Jelić.
Last summer, City of Novi Sad was the first in Serbia to implement subsidizing of children who attend private kindergartens. What we announced at the time, is to be realized in the weeks to follow – waiting lists for enrollment to the Preschool Institutions will, after several decades, finally become history.
