MILITARY MEDICAL CENTER GRANTED THE RIGHT TO USE EMG AND EEG INSTRUMENTS

Mayor of Novi Sad Miloš Vučević and the member of the City Council in charge of healthcare prof. Zoltan Horvat, PhD, visited the Novi Sad Military Medical Center, which has, since February 2013, been functioning as a general hospital with the secondary level of healthcare.

The Conclusion of the Novi Sad City Assembly grants this health institution the right to use the equipment for electromyography and electroencephalography. The instruments were procured for the Novi Sad Health Center, however, due to changed regulations, that primary-level heathcare institution cannot provide the services any more.

-Since Novi Sad does not have a general hospital, it is important that we make available the services of the Military Medical Center to the citizens and we have the agreement of the Ministry of Defense and the Military Hospital management. I am convinced that this measure will provide a better quality and more comprehensive healthcare to our citizens, and contribute to shorter waiting periods for doctor’s examinations, thus reducing the time necessary for diagnosis and the start of treatment.

The Military Medical Center director, colonel Bratoljub Brkljača, MD, thanked the Mayor and City Council member in charge of health for their effort to grant the right of use of the instrument for neurological diagnosis to this institution and added that he will do his best to put it to use in the shortest time possible.

The Military - Medical Center Novi Sad, on the basis of a contract with the National Health Insurance Fund, is an integral part of the health system of the South Bačka District and is open to citizens who, with their elected doctor's referral, can do additional diagnostics here or some of the medical interventions, such as laboratory diagnosis, intervention in the field of general surgery and more.

Prof. Zoltan Horvat, MD, stated that the Military Medical Center has good staff and good conditions for hospitalization. However, it is necessary to have solid cooperation between specialist doctors who work in the institutions of primary, secondary and tertiary levels of healthcare, so that the capacities of the Military Medical Center can be used to a greater extent. He added that, in future, this hospital could become a base to train medical students. Prof. Zoltan Horvat, MD, finally stressed and that the City will continue to invest in its health institutions and that it also purchased two modern digital X-ray apparatus for Novi Sad Health Center.
