MEETING BETWEEN THE MAYOR OF NOVI SAD AND THE AMBASSADOR OF GREAT BRITAIN

Today, in the Ceremonial Salons of the Petrovaradin Fortress, Novi Sad Mayor Žarko Mićin met with British Ambassador H.E. Edward Ferguson. On this occasion, the Mayor said he was pleased the Ambassador was attending the conference "One Region, One Market – A Step Towards the EU Common Market," stating that it is crucial to promote and expedite trade, economic cooperation, and interaction in Europe.
Among Novi Sad's twin cities, Norwich has one of the longest and most productive collaboration, Mayor Mićin said.
- In addition to having a bridge and a garden in the city of Norwich named after it, Novi Sad has Peter and the late Diana Beckley as honorary citizens, two outstanding Norwich humanitarians who did plenty of good for our community. Numerous initiatives, particularly in the areas of culture and education, have been carried out over the decades of genuine friendship. Due to the large number of guests from the UK, the EXIT Festival is another event that has significant connections to Great Britain - emphasized Mayor Mićin.
Both the Mayor and Ambassador Edward Ferguson acknowledged that there is a lot of space for collaboration between the two nations, particularly at the local government level, and they pledged to help it grow.
