MAYOR VUČEVIĆ MEETS WITH EBRD REPRESENTATIVES

Novi Sad Mayor Mr. Miloš Vučević, together with his associates, talked with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development representatives headed by a senior banker Mr. Davor Inđić in charge of the City infrastructure and the environment sector, at the City Hall today.
The representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development pointed out that they have had a good cooperation with other cities in Serbia, such as Belgrade, Kragujevac and Niš, but that Novi Sad is one of their priorities.
The Mayor introduced the delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development with the most significant future capital infrastructure projects of Novi Sad. On this occasion, he stressed that the focus of future period are projects like the construction of the western bypass around Novi Sad, central  water purifiers, bypass around Petrovaradin, the first underground garage in the City center and the project of the regional landfill. These are capital projects whose realization would not depend directly on the funds from the City budget, but would be supported by external cooperation and partnerships.
During the course of the meeting, it was emphasized that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in addition to providing financial assistance and logistical support could also provide a significant advisory role to Novi Sad, mainly aimed at strengthening the energy efficiency projects. This applies, above all, to improving the energy efficiency in PC Sports and Business Centre "Vojvodina”, following the sector of public lighting, but also the City Public Transportation Company “Novi Sad”.

If the City improves its energy efficiency, it will achieve a great advantage and gain one of the basic prerequisites for any further application for the EU funds. In this case, the cooperation of the City with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the field of the energy efficiency will the best reference and a starting point for any further applications for the EU funds.
