MAYOR OF NOVI SAD RECEIVES CHARGÉ D'AFFAIRES OF THE EMBASSY OF SLOVENIA

Mayor of the City of Novi Sad Mr. Miloš Vučević received today at the Novi Sad City Hall Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia Ms. Mateja Norčič Štamcar.
The Mayor wished Ms. Norčič Štamcar a warm welcome, and pointed out the fact that our City’s most dynamic cooperation within the last couple of years, among all the embassies in our country, is precisely with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, whose former Ambassador officially visited Novi Sad on several occasions.
Ms. Norčič Štamcar extended her gratitude for the warm reception and expressed her pleasure for being in Novi Sad, in the city which progresses at a very quick pace, the city which modernizes and develops. Among the discussed topics, there were also talks regarding Slovenian businesses in Novi Sad, possible new investors from Slovenia, as well as regarding the benefits, i. e. incentives offered to investors by the City Administration for Economy.
Mayor Vučević reiterated that apart from the connections and cooperation at the economic level, as well as the official cooperation between the two chambers of commerce – of the City of Novi Sad and of Murska Sobota, an exceptionally developed cooperation exists at the level of cultures. The two sides also discussed the already traditional annual event ‘Slovenian Days of Culture’ held in Novi Sad, during which numerous Slovenian companies, businesses, entrepreneurs and tourist institutions take part and present their potentials.
Another point of discussion between the Mayor of the City of Novi Sad Mr. Miloš Vučević and Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia Ms. Mateja Norčič Štamcar was the topic of education and the bidirectional exchange of pupils between the two countries, which last year resulted in twinning of two schools – Selnice na Dravi (Maribor) and Dositej Obradović (Novi Sad).
Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia Ms. Mateja Norčič Štamcar pointed out the connection between Novi Sad and Maribor, which in 2012 won the European Culture Capital Award, and which now has an advisory function in our City’s bidding process for this Award. Moreover, an initiative has been launched for institutionalization of cooperation between the two cities in the forthcoming period.
