MAYOR OF NOVI SAD ATTENDS THE CELEBRATION OF SAINT STEPHEN'S DAY AT THE NOVI SAD THEATRE

The Mayor of Novi Sad Žarko Mićin attended this evening’s ceremonial event marking Saint Stephen's Day, the national holiday of the Hungarian community in Serbia, held at the Novi Sad Theatre.

On this occasion, the Mayor extended his congratulations to members of the Hungarian national minority and emphasized the importance of unity, mutual respect, and equality among all peoples living in our city and throughout Serbia. Mićin also highlighted that relations between Serbia and Hungary are at a historic high, thanks to the strong ties and cooperation fostered by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. He noted that numerous agreements have been signed, and that the mutual support between the two countries today represents a solid foundation for the future.

- Novi Sad is today, as it has been throughout its history, a city of diversity. The equality of the Serbian people and all national minorities living here is one of our deepest commitments. I believe that in the years to come, we will continue to preserve peace, unity, and what is most valuable in our society — mutual respect - said Mayor Mićin.

The celebration was attended by the Ambassador of Hungary to Serbia, József Magyar, Member of the European Parliament Annamária Viček, President of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina Bálint Juhász, President of the National Council of the Hungarian National Minority Árpád Fremond, Deputy Prime Minister of the Provincial Government Sandra Božić, President of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians Dr. Bálint Pásztor, representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and others.
