MAYOR OF NOVI SAD ATTENDS THE CELEBRATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF GRАČАNICА

Mayor of the City of Novi Sad Mr. Мilоš Vučеvić attended the celebration of the feast Nativity of the Theotokos in Grаčаnica, which from this year is also celebrated as the Day of the Municipality of Grаčаnicа. Mayor and the Novi Sad delegation attended the archpriest service held at the Grаčаnicа Monastery, followed by the procession through the town.
- Delegation of the City of Novi Sad is often visiting Kоsоvo and Меtоhiјa, as well as the Municipality of Grаčаnicа. I congratulate the leaders of the Municipality, its President Mr. Vlаdеta Kоstić, its priests and clergy, as well as all its citizens the Day of the Municipality, as well as their patron saint Nativity of the Theotokos. It is my exceptional honor to be guest for the Day of the Municipality, and that I had the opportunity to attend with the rest of the delegation the morning service. We are all particularly proud that Novi Sad today will be officially recognized as the Grаčаnicа Municipality’s Friend City. This recognition from the Grаčаnicа Municipality will oblige us and further encourage to have even more high-quality cooperation. We have been sending aid to our people in Kosovo and Metohija numerous times, particularly by sending relief to the Grаčаnicа youngest ones. In the period to follow, we will strengthen this cooperation, and I hope that during the next session of the Novi Sad City Assembly on September 25th we will adopt the proposal to send an X-Ray appliance as a gift to the Grаčаnica Healthcare Center, enabling thereby its population an easier and better access to healthcare protection and medical services – said Mayor Vučеvić.
President of the Grаčаnicа Municipality Mr. Vlаdеtа Kоstić stated that Nоvi Sаd is the first city to offer a friendly hand to Grаčаnica when it was required most, and that they all have been through good and bad times.
- Novi Sad has always been with us and this friendship has lasted for many years. We believe that this is the right way, to make our friendship official on the Day of our Municipality. The City of Novi Sad today will become the friend of Grаčаnica, and about the remaining steps, which will certainly be more thorough and intensive, we will discuss in the period to follow. Up to now Novi Sad has helped us on numerous occasions, but more importantly what counts most is the moral support we constantly receive – said Mr. Kоstić.
Municipality of Grаčаnicа has reached its Decision to officially pronounce the City of Novi Sad a Friend of Grаčаnica, on the occasion of the Day of Municipality, held at the Grаčаnica House of Culture, where a Festive Academy will be held during which the Mayor of Novi Sad Mr. Мilоš Vučеvić will be officially presented the Charter of the Friend City of Grаčаnica.
