MAYOR MIĆIN GIVES A DEADLINE OF TWO MONTHS TO STABILIZE THE WATER SUPPLY IN NOVI SAD

Mayor of Novi Sad Žarko Mićin held a meeting with the management of the Public Utility Company "Waterworks and Sewerage" at which the possibility of urgently improving the water supply in Novi Sad was discussed. The meeting was attended by engineers responsible for improving the operation of existing wells, managers of the water plant and other departments of "Waterworks and Sewerage".

- Novi Sad residents' water supply needs to be stabilized as quickly as feasible. To improve the water source's production I demand that the Strand well's urgently required regeneration be completed in two months and that new drains be installed in. The work must begin as soon as possible in order to provide all Novi Sad citizens with the additional and essential amounts of water they require, every day of the year. The manager should assume full responsibility for the breach if the water supply issue is not fixed within two months- said Mićin.

He pointed out that in addition to the revitalization and improvement of existing springs, a new well will be built on Petrovardinska ada after 25 years.
- We are also considering the possibility of building a new water treatment plant on Ratno Ostrvo, and a main pipeline, which will connect this new spring to the city distribution network - said Mićin.

He also emphasized that from 2012 to 2024, about 17 billion dinars were invested from the city budget in the improvement of water supply and sewage in the territory of Novi Sad.

- In total, over 300 kilometers of water supply and almost 350 kilometers of sewage network have been built and reconstructed. Bocke received both water supply and sewage, Tatarsko brdo water supply, Ružin venac on Popovica sewage, Stepanovićevo water supply and sewage. Rumenka, Kać, Veternik, Kisac, Čenej, sewage. The construction of the fourth phase of the water supply in Begeč is underway, worth 250 million dinars. Works are underway on the construction of the main network in Dragoslava Srejovića Street and secondary pipelines in 12 more streets. The reconstruction and construction of a new water supply network in the Sadovi neighborhood in Petrovaradin, worth 110 million dinars, is underway. In addition to all these works, in the coming months we will devote ourselves to the regeneration of existing wells and the construction of new wells, so that Novi Sad has a stable water supply today and in the future - said Mićin.
