MAYOR MIĆIN AT EV DAYS: NOVI SAD IS NOT WAITING FOR THE FUTURE – IT IS READY TO EMBRACE IT

The Mayor of Novi Sad, Žarko Mićin, addressed participants today on the second day of the EV DAYS trade fair and conference, being held at the Master Centre of the Novi Sad Fair, and also spoke on the panel entitled “Electromobility in the Service of Smart Cities”. He stressed that electromobility brings together transport, energy, infrastructure, digital technologies and environmental protection, as well as the way in which life in cities is planned and organised.

-The most important thing is that all these innovations ultimately bring tangible benefits to citizens, including less congestion, cleaner air, safer transport and a better quality of life - said Mayor Mićin, reminding participants that Novi Sad is already taking concrete steps towards developing a modern, sustainable and technologically advanced city.

-A new Science and Technology Park 2 will be built, focused on the development of the automotive industry, mechatronics and industrial systems. Plans also include the construction of a state data centre, investment in digitalisation and modern technologies, as well as the continued modernisation of public transport through the further introduction of electric buses.In addition, at one of the most recent sessions of the Novi Sad City Assembly, a decision was adopted to install five solar-powered charging stations for electric vehicles. These are concrete steps towards a more sustainable, efficient and smarter city. But when we talk about the future, we must also talk about the people who will create that future. The importance of the Faculty of Technical Sciences should be particularly emphasised. With more than 17,000 students, it represents one of the most important centres of knowledge, engineering and innovation in Serbia. Knowledge and people are precisely the most important resource in the process of technological development, because the goal is for Novi Sad not only to be a place where new technologies are used, but also an environment in which they are developed - said Mićin.

Mayor Mićin added that during his recent visits to the People’s Republic of China, he had the opportunity to see some of the most advanced solutions in the fields of the automotive industry, smart cities, traffic management and public space management, stressing that these experiences are valuable for the further development of Novi Sad.

He congratulated the organisers, the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the University of Novi Sad and the company Ninamedija, on the sixth edition of EV DAYS, noting that year after year the event confirms that Novi Sad is a meeting place for knowledge, innovation, industry and new technologies.

In addition to Mayor Mićin, the panel and conference were attended by Slovenian Ambassador Slobodan Šešum, Assistant Minister for Environmental Protection Strahinja Stojković, Deputy President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia Mihailo Vesović, Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism Nenad Ivanišević, Dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences Boris Dumnić, Director of Ninamedija Dragan Radić and others.

The panellists also included Miloš Stoiljković, Director and Founder of Smart Volt Solutions d.o.o., and Kister, Director of R&D Synergy Group Eastern Europe, ZF.
