MAYOR CONGRATULATES THE WOMEN OF NOVI SAD INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
Mayor of Novi Sad Mr. Miloš Vučević presented today on the Sloboda Square awards to the participants of the art competition “She Earned It!”, within the framework of the humanitarian campaign “To Women, for the Children”. The event was held on the occasion of March 8th. The organizer and responsible for the project is Jovan Jovanović Primary School from Sremska Kamenica, while the entire proceeds will be transferred to the Fund for Children Treatment in Abroad.
The event encompasses art competition, the Festival of Presents, as well as school performances at various city locations. All city schools were invited to take part in the campaign. The winning works were on display, and used for printing greeting cards for March 8th, while all City institutions and companies were invited to give their contribution by purchasing the greeting cards for their female employees.
- Today we conclude one very lovely humanitarian campaign which lasted for several days at the Sloboda Square. Children helped with their art works to collect the contributions for treatment of children in foreign medical institutions, and at the same time to commemorate March 8th in one very charming way. Our youngest citizens have proved thereby their creativity, their imagination and, most importantly, their humanity. – said Mayor Vučević congratulating the students for their awards.
Following the event, Mayor Vučević visited the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic, where he met women who were about to leave the hospital and return home with their newly born babies. The Mayor, as a token of respect and appreciation, handed them roses and congratulated March 8th.
- It is our wish to show, even by this small gesture, that we take care of the women who have just been through the most beautiful moment of their lives. It is important to pay such attention to them every day, not only on March 8th or other holidays, and by implementing responsible policy in all areas we make effort to be as considerate as possible. – said Mayor Vučević and thanked all the employees of the Betanija Clinic for enabling the City representatives to organize the visit and present them with roses.
Following the visit, Mayor Vučević toured the Futog Gerontology Center and presented flowers to each of the lady resident.
- Care about our eldest and the intergeneration solidarity is something that obliges us all, as well as the entire community. We are here to pay a visit to our most senior female citizens, give them a modest present, but also to thank all the employees who are dedicated to daily care, nourishing and attention for our most senior citizens of Novi Sad. Younger generations are entitled to observe and mind our senior citizens, who built and created everything so they can bequeath it to us. It is our task to show that we should not only preserve it, but also improve and enlarge their legacy. – said Mayor Vučević during his visit to Futog Retirement Home.
