LOCAL INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT AND INSTITUTIONAL STRENGTHENING OF LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENTS PROJECT - LIID PROJECT

General information about the project

The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has started the implementation of the Local Infrastructure Development and Institutional Strengthening Project in the Republic of Serbia. The aforementioned project is being implemented on the basis of the Loan Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Loan Agreement between the French Development Agency and the Republic of Serbia.

The total value of the LIID project for the whole of Serbia is 300 million US dollars, and the City of Novi Sad has been awarded non-refundable funds in the amount of 6,315,448.00 US dollars.

On 29th June 2023 a Framework Agreement was concluded between the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia and the City of Novi Sad on the implementation of the project for the development of local infrastructure and institutional strengthening of local governments.

1. RECONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF "FUTOŠKI PARK"

"Futoški Park" was built as a special-purpose park around Jodna Banja (Iodine Spa) in the first decade of the 19th century. It is known for its lush vegetation, spacious green areas and diverse plant species, which makes it a popular place for walking, recreation and relaxation among fellow citizens. This park, in addition to its historical value, is also significant due to the fact that cultural and entertainment events are often held there, thus further contributing to the social life of the city of Novi Sad.

On 27th May 2024 the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the City of Novi Sad concluded a Grant Agreement for the project "Reconstruction and Development of Futoški Park in Novi Sad".

The value of the project is 448,065,487.79 dinars excluding VAT. The amount of 3,837,186.00 euros was provided from the LIID project to finance the reconstruction and development of "Futoški Park".

The project for the reconstruction and development of "Futoški Park" includes ground-level development with furnishing (ground-level architecture) and associated infrastructure (traffic surfaces, hydrotechnical installations and electrical installations). These works include:

-renovation of all paths;
-reconstruction of the lake;
-introduction of a fence around the park and gates at the park entrances;
-replacement of existing furniture (benches, trash cans, bicycle racks, Braille boards, information boards, protective bollards) and introduction of new ones (equipping with chess sets and sets containing a table with two benches, intended for gatherings and spending time in nature for a larger number of users in one place;
-the entrance from Hajduk Veljkova Street is being opened and a paved plateau-square is being formed, within the green area. Greening is planned for the central part of the plateau, as well as infrastructural equipment with appropriate electrical installations, so that exhibitions, open-air galleries and various other events can be organized there.

An irrigation system was built in the area of ​​"Futoški Park" in 2021. The value of this project amounted to 29,818,086.00 dinars. Part of the project was financed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection in the amount of 21,802,144.56 dinars, the City of Novi Sad 7,679,199.81 dinars and the Public Utility Company "Gradsko zelenilo" Novi Sad 336,741.63 dinars.

2. CONSTRUCTION OF THE BICYCLE PATH NOVI SAD - RUMENKA - IRMOVO - KISAC - ČENEJ Phase 2 - section from the DTD canal to Čenej with a length of 10.6 km

Subject of the second Grant Agreement, which was concluded on 1st July 2024, is the Construction of the Novi Sad – Rumenka – Irmovo – Kisac – Čenej bicycle path, phase 2, which includes the section from the DTD canal, through Irmovo and Kisac, to Čenej, with a length of 10.6 km. The subject path will be enriched with modern LED lighting.

The value of the project is 187,705,059.06 dinars excluding VAT.

Upon completion of this project, the City of Novi Sad will have a new bicycle path to Čenej with a total length of 20.2 km.
