IT’S URGENT TO DETERMINE THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE RED LIQUID SPILL INTO THE DANUBE

Regarding the news that unknown red liquid has spilled into the Danube today near the Žeželj Bridge, Mayor of Novi Sad Miloš Vučević is demanding an urgent reaction of competent companies and inspections, as well as to find who is responsible for this incident.
- I am requesting that the citizens of Novi Sad as soon as possible get an explanation for the occurrence that caused discomfort and worries and that companies and inspections in charge of the Danube River point to the responsible individuals. Health of the citizens of Novi Sad comes first and swift reactions are necessary in order to determine the level of water contamination, as it is a vital resource that everyone in the city shares and uses – said Mayor Vučević.
So far, workers of PUC “Waterworks and Sewage” have sent samples for analysis and undertaken all the measures that are on the city’s level of competence, but it is also important to act fast and determine all-encompassing facts regarding this case. Now it is vital that urgent measures are taken by Public Water Management Company “Vode Vojvodine” that is competent of water resources in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, then provincial sanitary inspection, as well as the Communal Hygiene Service in the Vojvodina Institute for Public Health, that besides drinking water also controls the Danube water.
