EU INFO POINT OPENS TO PUBLIC

Mayor of Novi Sad Mr. Miloš Vučević, Head of the European Delegation to Serbia H. E. Ambassador Michael Davenport, and Provincial Government Prime Minister Mr. Bojan Pajtić, PhD, officially opened today the new premises of the EU Info Point, at 17, Mihajla Pupina Boulevard, in Novi Sad.

EU Info Point in Novi Sad has been founded by the EU Delegation to Serbia in August last year, with the purpose of informing our citizens regarding EU, its institutions, as well as on relations between EU and Serbia.

Following the official opening, a reception was given at the Matica Srpska Gallery. Mayor Vučević stated that it is a great honor to see that EU Delegation to Serbia had recognized Novi Sad as a municipality which will represent a link in the chain of Serbia’s accession process to EU.

- No matter which endeavor we compel to, apart from the obvious effort and hard work we invest in the process, it is always important to bear in mind that for success of these commitments time is also required. We are all very much aware that results cannot be achieved overnight, as much as we are aware that without crucial changes, there is no progress. One of the key elements, which should lead to our country’s progress, is certainly the process of reforms in Serbia which should result in our country’s accession to EU.

Our Government is committed to this serious task, and it is a great pleasure to hear words of praise and respect of European officials for the reforms we have taken thus far. The EU Info Point in Novi Sad is only one of the steps the City Administration will take in order to promote the values and quality of EU our country will gain in the negotiation and accession process. From one point, from this Center, a process of cooperation with various organizations, municipal and provincial institutions will ensue. I certainly hope that our citizens will show a lot of interest, and that this Office will be a nursery of quality ideas and incentives for various new mutual projects in future, which will bring us closer to EU. – said Mayor Vučević.

H. E. Ambassador Davenport pointed out his wish that EU Info Point should be at the citizens’ and community’s service and disposal, so that as many people as possible from Novi Sad and Vojvodina can learn about EU. He also pointed out that close cooperation of EU Info Point will be continued with all local partners in the common mission of assisting Serbia’s accession to EU.
