An official delegation of the City of Novi Sad, consisting of Deputy Mayor Đurađ Jakšić and Assistant to the Mayor Ivan Siler, visited Pécs from August 31 to September 2 on the occasion of the City Day celebration, continuing more than a decade and a half of fraternal relations and cooperation.
During their stay, the delegation participated in ceremonial events, including a reception at the “Kodály” Centre, a formal session of the City Assembly, a concert by the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra, and a tour of the renovated “János Pannonius” Museum.
Deputy Mayor of Novi Sad, Đurađ Jakšić, speaking on behalf of the City of Novi Sad, extended a sincere and heartfelt congratulation to the citizens of Pécs and Mayor Attila Péterffy on the occasion of the City Day.
- On behalf of Mayor Žarko Mićin and all the citizens of Novi Sad, I extend warm congratulations on the occasion of the City Day of Pécs to our dear friends and our twin city, with whom we share much more than a formal agreement. Our ties are based on genuine friendship, deep mutual respect, and a shared historical and cultural thread. Likewise, Novi Sad and Pécs share the values of solidarity, understanding, and respect for diversity, values that are more important today than ever. Our relationship is a true example of how the Serbian and Hungarian peoples can build strong and lasting bonds in a spirit of peace, mutual support, and a shared vision of a stable, open and bright future - emphasized Jakšić.
The cooperation between the two cities, established in 2009, continues to grow as Novi Sad and Pécs build a partnership based on mutual support and collaboration in the fields of culture, education, and sports. Increasingly, opportunities are opening up in the sphere of economic cooperation as well, which represents an important step in strengthening regional cooperation and good neighborly relations.
