Customs free zone development
Igor Pavličić, Mayor of Novi Sad, together with Bojan Pajtić, President of the Government of Vojvodina and Miodrag Đidić, State Secretary of Finance, inspected the building site of Production and Logistics Complex of PW Customs free zone in Novi Sad where the investors will be offered storage sites. The Mayor said that this is the first free zone investment after many years.
- Considering the fact that this major investment will employ 50 people, the City decided to help and cut the utility service costs by 50 percent. If this investment turns out to be successful, we will consider its expansion. The IT sector becomes ever more popular in Novi Sad and many companies showed their intrest to invest in it. The most important thing is to employ young people, and the City will benefit, too, since the income tax is the major source of financing – said mayor Pavličić.
President Pajtić pointed out that 230 foreign companies came to Vojvodina in the last couple of years and that they employed 60,000 people. He said that IT development has become the strategic plan of the Government for the Province. The State Secretary Đidić said that the new free zone development strategy should be implemented by the end of the year. – Practically, it means that company and income taxes will be set aside for the free zones – said Đidić.
The new facility in PW Customs Free Zone will be built on lot 4153/14 КО Novi Sad. The facility covers 3000m2 of production area and 500m2 allocated for the IT sector business incubator.
