CONSTRUCTION OF A HALL IN RIMSKI ŠANČEVI PROGRESSES WELL
Mayor of Novi Sad Miloš Vučević visited the Rimski šančevi site, where a two-level multifunctional hall of over 5,000 m2 is being constructed on the basis of a project financed by the EU in the framework of the Hungary-Serbia Cross-Border Cooperation Program.
Public Company “Business Premises” has for years been developing production, industrial and handicraft complex in the Rimski šančevi Work Zone in Novi Sad, within a long-term project whose final result will provide 50,000 m2 of useful business premises. By finishing the construction of the said complex, conditions will be created for the development of small and medium-sized companies, economy, various kinds of services and cultural and sports amenities.
- We have assured ourselves that the multifunctional hall construction works are progressing at the planned pace. Moreover, the designing of the third hall, of a similar type of occupancy, area 3,600 m2, is in progress and its construction should start by the end of 2015. The amount of 150 million RSD has been planned in the 2015 Work Program of the Public Company “Business Premises” for the completion of construction of the hall whose building has commenced and the beginning of construction of the new hall. For the purpose of achieving positive effects of the development of new services, primarily aimed at production companies, Public Company “Business Premises” and the City of Novi Sad have since 2010 been intensively working on the development of the mentioned complex in the Rimski šančevi Work Zone – said Mayor Vučević, adding that he hopes that in the beginning of 2016 conditions will be created for the City to invite the interested investors from the production field of activities to start their production in the hall which is currently under construction.
Talking about future investments, the Mayor also mentioned potential investors from the USA, who have been in Novi Sad for the past two days, actively analyzing the existing brownfield sites.
- Managers of the automotive industry company interested in investing in Novi Sad are currently focused on analyzing facilities in the city. I have to mention that we greatly appreciate the support we have received from H.E. U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Serbia Michael Kirby, and of course from the Government of the Republic of Serbia – Mayor Vučević emphasized.
During the visit to the construction site, Mayor Vučević also paid a visit to the Italian company “K-314”, which is leasing the production hall constructed several years ago in Rimski šančevi.
The Rimski šančevi Work Zone is located at a very attractive site between several transportation routes, which is a huge investment potential of the City of Novi Sad.
Since the mentioned project requires the allocation of a significant amount of funds, and hence a longer period of time, a public-private partnership represents a big chance for the implementation of the project, which can be viewed through the possibility of decrease in fiscal pressure on the local budget and acceleration of infrastructural works.
