CITY OF NOVI SAD CONTINUES INVESTMENTS IN HEALTHCARE – NOVI SAD HEALTH CENTRE RECEIVES NEW EQUIPMENT

The Mayor of Novi Sad Žarko Mićin has officially handed over 150 new computers to the Novi Sad Health Centre, funded from the city budget. The computers were received on behalf of the Health Centre by Dr Tatjana Pokuševski, with Sonja Radaković, City Council Member for Social Protection, Family and Child Care, and Healthcare, also in attendance.
- The City of Novi Sad remains committed to improving healthcare services for its citizens - said Mayor Mićin - Although the City is no longer the founder of Health Centres following the new Health Care Act, last year we provided funding for 150 computers, which we are officially delivering today, along with the necessary software licences. These computers will enable doctors to work more efficiently, improving patient care. The Mayor added that the computer purchase forms part of a broader investment programme launched in 2012, worth 894 million dinars. As part of this programme, two new health centres were built and equipped in Adice and Vidovdansko Naselje, the Liman Health Centre was fully renovated and equipped, and the Reproductive Health Centre in Almaška Street was upgraded.
- This year, in addition to the computers, we plan to procure five ECG machines, ENT equipment, an ultrasound machine for gynaecology, a modern digital X-ray device, and dental technology equipment. We will also provide three vehicles for home visits, reflecting the growing demand for in-home healthcare services - said Mayor Mićin.
Acting Director of the Novi Sad Health Centre, Dr Tatjana Pokuševski, expressed gratitude for the donation, emphasising its importance for the day-to-day work of all staff. The Mayor also highlighted that funding has been allocated for projects promoting health and disease prevention.
- We will also invest in a network of automatic defibrillators at the busiest city locations to improve emergency response in cases of sudden cardiac arrest. Additionally, Novi Sad is set to join the 8th phase of the prestigious European Healthy Cities Network of the World Health Organization, joining a distinguished community of around 100 European cities and becoming the first city in Serbia to participate. We remain dedicated to the health, environment, and quality of life of all citizens in Novi Sad - Mayor Mićin concluded.
