BUILDING NEW PARTNERSHIPS AS CLEVELAND BECOMES NEW TWIN CITY OF NOVI SAD

The Agreement on the Establishment of Cooperation between Novi Sad and Cleveland, which was signed at the City Hall of this American City, is the highest legal document governing Serbian cities' and municipalities' relationships with cities abroad. It was signed by Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb and Vladimir Marić, chargé d'affaires of the Serbian Embassy in Washington, on behalf of Novi Sad Mayor Milan Đurić.

Given that Novi Sad and Cleveland have about the same population and are the administrative, economic, educational, and cultural hubs of their respective regions, cooperation between the cities was facilitated by the actions of Marko Đurić, the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the United States.

Cooperation in public transportation, IT, tourism, the economy, and banking is planned under the agreement. The Agreement also promotes cooperative efforts to uphold public order, peace, and security and addresses issues related to healthcare, education, human rights, and social justice.

As Cleveland, a part of the Federal State of Ohio, joins Novi Sad as its 27th twin city, Mayor Milan Đurić stated that the City will continue to expand its network of friendly cities and promote international cooperation in its goal of having an open environment with a good standard of living.
