MONITORING SYSTEM TRIAL PERIOD FOR IMPROVED TRAFFIC SAFETY

A contract on traffic monitoring system and its trial period use was signed today in Novi Sad City Hall. The signing parties were Balkan Road Control Ltd, City of Novi Sad and Novi Sad Police Administration, represented by Mr. Pero Andreata of the Balkan Road Control Ltd, by Member of the City Council in charge for Traffic and Roads Mr. Nemanja Vukčević, and Head of the Novi Sad Police Administration Mr. Siniša Radaković, respectively.

Member of the City Council in charge for Traffic and Roads Mr. Nemanja Vukčević greeted the guests on behalf of the Mayor of Novi Sad Mr. Miloš Vučević and pointed out that traffic safety is one of the most important factors in the city’s regular functioning.

- Balkan Road Control Ltd has recognized the efforts of the Novi Sad Traffic Administration in this area and leased us the system, entirely free of charge, for a six-month trial period. The purpose of the system, containing three traffic-recording cameras, is to detect and document traffic violations, behavior of all traffic participants, all this in order to improve safety and efficiency of traffic on the City territory. The equipment consists of state-of-the-art instruments which, regardless of the weather conditions, record every type of traffic violation. The intention of the project is not to collect ticket fines from the violators as much as possible, but rather to raise the awareness of drivers, increase the discipline, as well as to improve traffic culture. – said Mr. Vukčević.

Head of the Novi Sad Police Administration Mr. SIniša Radaković thanked the City Traffic Administration for recognizing the importance of this project for the citizens, for acknowledging their requirements, as well as his hopes that one such free project will significantly improve safety of all traffic participants.
